Aegis Construction is a proud Māori-led company based here in Aotearoa, specialising in residential and commercial builds, earthworks, and site management. We’re built by hands-on tradespeople, operators, and project leads who live and breathe this industry — but more importantly, we’re here to support our people and communities.

Our name, Aegis, means shield or protection. That’s exactly how we approach every project: with care, respect, and a commitment to protecting our people, our work, and our future.

Our Path Forward

Right now, we’re working alongside fully licensed building practitioners while we work hard to earn our own Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) licenses and join the Registered Master Builders Association (RMBA). This means every project we’re involved with meets the strict building standards that keep Aotearoa’s homes and workplaces safe and strong.

We see this as a journey — gaining hands-on experience, learning constantly, and growing professionally. It’s all about delivering quality, durability, and peace of mind to the people we serve.

Meet the Directors

At Aegis Construction, our strength lies in the experience, integrity, and unity of our leadership. Māori-owned and proudly based in Auckland, our founding team brings together over 50 years of combined experience in civil, residential, and earthworks construction.

The idea for Aegis began through kōrero between mates who had seen the same thing: a serious gap in construction quality, Māori representation in major projects, and genuine reinvestment into our people and communities. We didn’t just talk — we built a company to fill that gap with excellence, culture, and purpose at its core.

Rodolfo Castro

A qualified builder with more than 3 decades of hands-on experience, Rodolfo is known for his uncompromising quality, smart building solutions, and deep knowledge of commercial and residential construction. From high-end renovations to complex new builds, he has built a reputation for delivering on time, every time. Rodolfo leads our building teams with integrity and calm leadership, mentoring younger tradies with the same high standards that have defined his career.

Jackson Harris

With a background in management, systems, and operational leadership, Jackson drives the strategic growth of Aegis Construction. He oversees project coordination, compliance, client relationships, and digital systems — while also bringing hands-on experience in crane operation and heavy machinery from his years on the ground in commercial construction.

Jackson’s focus is on empowering Māori business excellence, advancing digital capability, and creating opportunities that turn mahi into legacy. His vision anchors the business in purpose, performance, and people-first leadership.

Civil Works Expert

Pene Nepia

With over 2 decades in heavy machinery operation and siteworks, Pene is a seasoned earthworks specialist who brings unmatched precision to every dig. From bulk excavations to trenching, driveways to site prep, his experience on some of Aotearoa’s largest infrastructure and subdivision projects ensures every job starts on solid ground. As a proud Māori co-founder, Pene is passionate about paving the way for rangatahi in civil trades and keeping whakapapa connected to whenua.
